Department of Veterans’ Affairs

What is the Department of Veterans’Affairs (DVA) Health Card?

We are proud to be a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) approved dental care provider in Currambine. Dental care such as check-ups, repairs, dentures, and dental implants may be covered by the DVA. Typically, you will not have to pay for your dental treatment. However, there is an Annual Monetary Limit (AML) for some high-cost items, such as bridges and crowns. You may need to make a co-payment if your high-cost items exceed the AML of $2,643.25 per calendar year.
You may be eligible for dental services if you have an assessed clinical need and a DVA Health Card:

1. Veteran Gold Card: a treatment card that provides you with clinically required treatment for all medical conditions, including treatments provided by a dental professional.

2. Veteran White Card: a treatment card that covers you for clinically required medical treatment in Australia for your accepted service-related injuries or conditions, including treatments provided by a dental professional.

Please present your DVA Gold or White Health Card at the beginning of your dental consultation or before your treatment commences. In accordance with DVA arrangements, our team will assess your needs and provide treatment if necessary. Our dentist will provide you with a copy of the treatment record for your reference.

Treatments Covered by DVA

The following dental treatments are available to you if you have a DVA Health Card:

  • Routine cleanings and check-ups
  • Tooth decay prevention
  • Cavity treatments
  • Dentures
  • Treatments for dental injuries and conditions

DVA may cover dental implants and bruxism treatment on a case-by-case basis, subject to DVA’s assessment and approval.
