No Out of Pocket Cost With Medicare Bulk Billing For Children

You can now smile again with confidence, knowing Smiles in Currambine will not charge you for your child’s dental treatment anything more than the Medicare benefit. With Smiles in Currambine’s Bulk Billing service through the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), we’ll bill Medicare directly and save you the hassle of dealing with paperwork or insurance claims.

Smiles in Currambine is a family-friendly dental practice offering quality dentistry at affordable prices. If your child is eligible for Medicare under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), we will bulk bill their treatment so that there are no out-of-pocket expenses.

Benefits of Medicare Bulk Billing

With Medicare bulk billing, your children will be able to grow up knowing that they will have access to basic and emergency dental care. They have a better chance of having healthier, more attractive teeth, which can benefit their overall health. Dental costs vary significantly across Australia. Location, administrative expenditures, and the costs of materials and procedures are all taken into account. The difference in price does not matter when you take your child to a bulk-billing dentist because the government pays up to $1,000 for your child’s dental care. This means you won’t have to pay anything out of pocket.

In addition, bulk billing is a time-saving and handy option. All you have to do is scan your Medicare card and fill out the form. You don’t have to pay anything in advance to a bulk-billing dentist; the government covers 85% to 100% of the expense, which is considered full payment.

When arranging an appointment at Smiles in Currambine, please let us know if you want to use CDBS and bulk billing. Make sure you know how close you are to the benefit cap, as this can affect the amount of money you receive. Our dentist will confirm your child’s eligibility for benefits during your child’s check-up. We’ll also talk about how much each treatment costs and whether it’s covered by CDBS. If you agree to the services and price, you will be required to sign a consent form.

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) reimburses children aged 2 to 17 for basic dental services such as dental check-ups, x-rays, cleaning, sealing damaged teeth, fillings, root canals, and extractions. These dental services are capped at $1000 over two consecutive calendar years. The 2-year cap period begins when a child or teenager receives their first eligible dental service. The $1,000 can be used all at once or over two years. The majority of the services are billed in bulk, so you don’t have to pay anything. Only families that receive other government benefits are eligible for the payments. However, there is a possibility that you will not be bulk billed when you receive more than one service during the same visit.

In addition, health fund payments and CDBS cannot be combined for the same treatment. It also excludes orthodontic and aesthetic dental work and any dental care performed in a hospital setting.

The following dental services are included in Medicare bulk billing under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS):

  • dental check-ups
  • x-rays
  • cleanings
  • fissure sealing
  • fillings
  • root canals
  • tooth extractions
